Adi Shankar, the guy that brought us that awesome Power Rangers short film staring Dawson from the creek (really, if you never saw it, watch it now right there ---->), is bringing the much beloved video game series to gorgeous animated life on Netflix in just a few days. If that wasn't cool enough, it is written by Warren Ellis, one of the absolute greatest comic writers there ever was - Transmetropolitan being the most notable, probably.
Shankar claims that the show will be "R-rated as fuck." I don't think I could get more excited by such few words. Maybe, "Here, have this money", or "Ok, but only because it's your birthday".
Frederator Studios, makers of Adventure Time, are behind the animation. The studio had previously stated that they were working on "a project right now that we’re doing that needs to go unnamed, based on one of the most world-famous video games of the last 30 years, that we’ve had in our shop for 12 years without being able to get it started."
Sounds like this has been a thing for a long damn time, but it is almost upon us. July 7th to be exact. I will binge this so hard, purge, then binge again.
Here is the tiny teaser trailer to get you all twitterpated.
“I’m personally guaranteeing that this is going to be the best fucking video game adaptation ever made to date. I’ve seen it, and it’s fucking amazing.” -Adi Shankar
