Originally released in 2002 - called Junior back then - but now getting a high def re-release. You can actually watch it on Amazon Prime right now, and the Blu-Ray comes out soon. I haven't gotten around to this one yet, but it is on my list. The trailer looks great to me, but I can't really tell if I am going to jump or laugh. I've watched it several times now, and I can't decide if the killer is silly or creepy. Whatever that weapon is, it doesn't really seem the most weildable, and I am pretty sure that thing on his face is a spray painted CPAP mask. Still, I love the classic look of the whole thing, and I am looking forward to it.
Coming August 25th, This one looks delightfully ridiculous. It is either going to be one of those movies with a silly premise that turns out super spooky, ala The Ring, or a silly premise that turns out to be something to make fun of with your friends, ala any movie where phones kill people. The trailer actually looks a little creepy, but just barely. I think some of these moments are going to play far differently in the full flick.
American Guinea Pig: Song of Solomon
I have yet to check out the AGP series, but I have been meaning to. From what I understand, these are heavily crowdfunded films that rely purely on special effects, and that is a beautiful thing, This trailer has a lower budget feel, but I think it could be really good. Of course, if you aren't into the blood and guts, then don't watch it. For fucksake, turn away and go read a Twilight book ya pansy! Kidding, I know blood isn't for everyone, and that is fine. This film does look to have a pretty steep blood love pre-req though.
The Evil In Us
No idea if this one is going to be any good, but I am including it because the trailer made me laugh. I couldn't help but think of that old Chapelle Show skit where Rick James says "Cocaine is a Helluva drug." The plot is simple, there is a new drug that makes you eat people. The End. It could have some jump scares, but I can't imagine that I will do much more than make jokes that annoy my wife but amuse myself on a very high level. If you can't wait to see it, you can get it at Wal-Mart as of today, but if you can't stand Wally-World, then you'll have to wait until August 29th.
And, that is all for today. It is very late, and I need some sleep. Happy 4th of July, though that ended a little over an hour ago. I celebrated by getting a speeding ticket, so I hope you guys had better luck. Until next time. Cheers!
